Went to Bempton cliffs today hoping to see the red flanked bluetail, it showed earlier in the morning but by the time arrived at 9.10 it was not showing, however i did see the red backed shrike. I then drove the short distance to Flamborough Head for a visit, very quiet but i did find a pair of purple sandpipers feeding among the rock pools. I went back to Bempton cliffs only to find i had missed the bluetail again and then it showed again at 3.30 when i was on my way home, so some good birds but the star attraction i missed.
